There are a million decisions to make when planning a destination wedding from abroad. From who to invite and what to serve, to the color of your linens and the flavor of your cake, making the right choices along the way can make or break your big day. Lauren and James made it look easy as they celebrated their dreamy destination wedding at The Cape Thompson in February, and we can’t wait to show you what we shot!
Lauren and James are an adventurous couple, and while we knew we had their beachfront trash the dress session programmed for the following morning, we wanted to make sure we made the most of our wedding day schedule. Our day began in the 5-star comfort of Lauren’s bridal suite, where makeup artist Alma Vallejo was onsite to whip our bride and her girls into shape. Lauren’s look centered around her natural makeup and what we like to call a “fancy ponytail”, perfect for her simple, fitted gown and dramatic, Cathedral length veil. James and his boys, along with Lauren’s girls, looked sharp in black and navy blue, and their cool formality was a welcome change from the more casual ensembles favored at many destination weddings.
As ceremony time drew near, Los Cabos’ own Minister Marco took the reigns. Marco is known for his customized ceremonies which combine the more traditional elements of wedding nuptials with love, laughter and those personal touches that make each ceremony unique. The Los Cabos landscape, along with the team at Emporio Arte Floral, dressed up the already beautiful Cape Thompson terrace, as Lauren and James said their I dos beneath a romantic arch of ivory flowers and whimsical foliage, the picture-perfect waves of the Sea of Cortez rolling on the horizon.
As we followed our couple’s lively group of friends and family to The Cape Thompson’s rooftop terrace come dinner time, we were met with an incredible reception space that centered around Lauren’s favorite combination of colors; black, white and copper with natural wooden accents. Lauren and wedding planner Jessica Wolff from Cabo Wedding Services, along with the designers at Emporio Arte Floral, opted to forego traditional floral centerpieces in favor of star-shaped, copper lanterns, which rested upon sleek, round tables with wooden bases. Dj Alex Alanis upped the ante, injecting a dose of high tech with an electronic dance floor, futuristic lighting scheme and hit after hit of playlist gold. Guests dined on some of Cabo’s finest cuisine while sipping signature cocktails and dancing the night away.
Our trash the dress session the following morning was, simply put, THE BOMB, but that’s a story for later. Stay tuned for more!
A big congratulations to Lauren and James, and thank you to the amazing team of vendors that made their day so special.
