As destination wedding photographers, we are oh so used to seeing smiles. From doting parents to overly excited kids, a wedding day envokes emotion. Jessica and Aaron took things to another level and the smiles were neverending at this gorgeous Casa Dorada wedding on a sunny weekend in May.
Meeting Jessica was a photographer’s dream, her creativity and unique sense of style evident from the get-go. With hair and makeup artistry taken care of by the very talented Suzanne Morel, bridesmaids donned shades of electric blue, spicy red, aquamarine, and watercolor-inspired florals, and the electrifying palette perfectly accentuated her 50s inspired, white lace gown and fascinator. Jessica let her girls run wild, and the perfect cohesion of mismatched heels and retro gowns left us with no doubt that this wedding would be far from ordinary. Aaron and his boys weren’t going to be left behind in the style stakes, rocking cool greys and eye-popping shades of turquoise. With the epic Land’s End as our backdrop, not even a black and white filter could hide the color!
Casa Dorada’s 12 Tribes Terrace and imposing palapa overlooking the Sea of Cortez was the area of choice for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, a clever planning decision which invited guests to come together and stay together. While located in the middle of the property and on one of Cabo’s busiest beaches, the terrace’s elevated design and unique landscaping ensured privacy throughout. In true Casa Dorada style, food was a focal point, with Jessica and Aaron opting for an elaborate buffet full of leafy green salads and fresh local produce. Primarily wooden tablescapes were dressed up with white lace and flowery pops of color (courtesy of Baja Flowers), in keeping with the retro 50s vibe. Well thought out details, such as the couple’s hand-painted tree of life guestbook and metallic cake topper injected another dose of personality into the already stunning decor.
We love properties that offer us many beautiful backdrops in which to frame our couple, and Casa Dorada’s mix of lush landscapes, contemporary lines, and warm desert tones was a photographer’s dream, producing a near endless roll of shots during our portrait session. Aaron took his bride for a pool-side twirl, and what followed was a happy, fun loving session with just the right amount of silly. DJ Mijares kept guests dancing well into the night, and we stayed to capture the antics. Our favorite shot? An ecstatic bride and groom saluting the night sky, as confetti rained down! Truly a night to remember.
Thank you, Jessica and Aaron, for trusting us with your memories, and we hope to capture many more milestones to come (first anniversary in Cabo anyone?).
