There is something about tradition which gets us, and white at a wedding is about as traditional as it gets. White cakes, white flowers and, of course, the iconic white dress; we see the color, representing purity and innocence, used in many wonderful ways, wedding after wedding. When it came to designing their destination celebration, Alkia and Justin took the old wedding staple and gave it a fresh and funky twist, a very modern take on the timeless and traditional.
Early on in their wedding planning journey both Alkia and Justin fell in love, this time with their chosen location, Cabo Azul Resort. Located in San Jose del Cabo, the property is considered one of Cabo’s finest examples of the contemporary aesthetic, but it’s its superior service and exquisite fine dining that makes it a go-to spot for newly engaged couples, not to mention its incredibly spacious and ultra elegant suites. Space was high on Alkia’s list of priorities as makeup superstar Neysa Berman and the team at Blanc Salon arrived to attend to our bride and her whopping 8 bridesmaid’s beauty needs. Alkia looked every bit the beautiful bride in a showstopping strapless number with a to-die-for train, and her gown’s elegant simplicity worked in tandem with her loose waves and natural makeup to produce a perfectly put together wedding look. While Justin and his boys exuded class in all white 3 pieces and bow ties, Alkia’s girls rocked unique formal gowns also in the color of the day, white!
Our couple’s first look took place in the hotel’s garden’s, just below Alkia’s bridal suite. When these two laid eyes on one another it was love all over again. Along with their massive bridal party and excited group of guests (all decked out in white, of course!), they celebrated their union in Cabo Azul’s chapel, their minimal decor of crystal cylinders and candles the perfect addition to the buildings imposing architecture.
Come reception time, Alkia, wedding planner Cynthia Salcedo and the team at Flowers and Events delivered an award-worthy event setup to the resort’s Javier’s Restaurant deck. Our favorite part was definitely the couple’s sweetheart table, which was brimming with white blossoms, tropical leaves, romantic candlelight and a few finishing touches of shiny, shiny gold. Later in the evening, Alkia made a memorable outfit change, returning to the festivities in a stunning white ensemble featuring this seasons famous “skirt over pants” trend. The look was the perfect fusion of classic and edgy, a striking statement piece and a bold example that we think more brides should follow. Alkia and Justin flew in Illinois based Ajoyi Stackhouse, otherwise known as DJ Stack, to get the party started, and her mix of fabulous tunes resulted in one banging wedding bash.
Alkia and Justin – congratulations on becoming Mr and Mrs, and for doing it with class, personality, and style to boot!
