July weddings in Los Cabos are notoriously hot, so choosing a location that is both beautiful and practical is high on the list of wedding planning priorities. Katey and Kemp decided to beat the heat at the striking and contemporary Cabo Azul resort, located in San Jose del Cabo. This long-time favorite features a grand, semi-enclosed chapel and mature gardens which invite calm, serenity and most importantly shade! The property is renowned for its architecture, marrying clean exterior lines with impeccable interiors. With their dream location safely secured, all that was left was for Katey and Kemp, along with wedding coordinator Cynthia Salcedo from Cabo Azul, to hash out the details of what was set to be one incredible celebration.
Our cameras started clicking during Katey’s getting ready session, and it was obvious from the get-go that fun, frivolity, and COLOR would define the festivities to follow. Katey and her bridesmaid’s sipped champagne in bright aquamarine and floral robes as XXXXX prepped and primped and, right on schedule, our bride and her best girls were wedding ready. Katey chose soft, Grecian inspired dresses in teal blue for her ladies, while her own ivory, empire waist gown with draped sleeves had her looking every bit the Greek goddess. Far from shy, Katey couldn’t resist a splash of color, donning sky high aquamarine heels to complete her look, as well as a vibrant bouquet by XXXX.
Both Katey and Kemp were bubbling with excitement as we captured their first look, a few precious private moments pre-ceremony. Cabo Azul’s towering, vaulted Chapel, striking Catholic cross and views to the Sea of Cortez provided the perfect backdrop for their heartfelt ceremony, where bride and groom said their I do’s in front of family and friends. The short and sweet affair included all of the traditional elements of a marriage ceremony while still reflecting the energy and unique personalities of both Katey and Kemp.
What followed the formalities was one truly memorable destination wedding celebration! After a post-ceremony beach portrait session with bride, groom and bridal party, everyone was ready to let their hair down. With the worst of the day’s heat residing as the sun set, guests were ushered to Javier’s Deck, a stunning open plan area located off the properties main restaurant space and overlooking the rolling waves of the Sea of Cortez. Our bridal party made an impressive entrance, dancing to tunes by XXXX, before Cabo Azul’s award-winning banquet team exceeded expectations once again, serving a smorgasbord of fresh, local produce. While the rest of the evening did include more traditional elements such as the couple’s first dance and cake cutting, what really made this wedding memorable was the emphasis on friends, family, and fun. Plied with delicious and seemingly bottomless cocktails, guests laughed, mingled and danced the night away, a true testament to Katey and Kemp’s heartwarming union.
Thank you Katey and Kemp for trusting us with your most precious moments. We had a blast!
