Los Cabos is known as the town that Winter never touches, and its near year-round sunshine makes it one of Mexico’s top destination wedding locations. Little known fact – we get our chilly days too! So what did Laurie and Nick do when the weather Gods threw pesky winds and more than a few dark clouds their way this past June? They partied like it was 1999!
We kicked things off in Laurie’s suite at the bold and beautiful Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach resort. Located on the shores of the Pacific and therefore more susceptible to less than desirable weather conditions, the properties expansive beach areas, tropical gardens and hacienda-style architecture mean it a photographer’s favorite. While the sun was struggling to make its appearance outside, our bride was shining brightly as she got her getting ready on. Laurie’s boho beach waves and natural makeup worked perfectly with her crisp white mermaid gown, resulting in a look that was very Cabo and oh so right. Her bridesmaids backed her up in steely blue, each adding her own touch of sparkle in a dress with a unique cut. Emporio Arte Floral injected a dose of the tropical to warm up the day, with each bridesmaid carrying a bouquet of gerbera daisies in all shades of bright.
It was evident from the get-go that this young couple was very much in love. Both Nick and Laurie shared handwritten letters in the moments leading up to their ceremony, and the look of excitement on Nick’s face when he met his bride at our first look was something we are ecstatic to have captured. We are lovers of detail, and these two had it in bags. From the flower girl’s cute floral crowns and our couple’s thoughtful gifts to one another to Laurie’s funky, personalized tennis shoes, there was no shortage of memories to capture from the moment we started clicking.
Come ceremony time the pashminas came out and the suit jackets went on, as guests took their places on the sand. Laurie and Nick opted for a simple ceremony setup, combining Chiavari chairs and a dark wood chuppah with soft draping and just a splash of Laurie’s favorite flowers. Guests witnessed many laughs, a few happy tears, and heartfelt vows as they gave Laurie and Nick their blessings and witnessed their union.
Laurie and Nick couldn’t have cared less about the weather, so we knew this would be the party to end all parties. DJ William Gunzenhaeuser manned the decks, spinning a playlist of old and new that had the dance floor packed all evening. Personalized beer cozies in hand and signature shades in place, guests were treated to good vibes, great music, and even better cocktails. With the amazingly awesome ladies at Pueblo Bonito taking care of everything behind the scenes, it wasn’t long before the chill in the air was forgotten and these lovebirds showed their friends and family how a destination wedding is done!
Nick and Laurie – we love your energy. Congratulations and thank you for being you. We hope to see you for many years to come in (sunny!) Cabo!
